Went out and about in Richmond scoping out the scene on a Friday night, prior to moving to the area. Found Chez Lindsay, a charming atmosphere and very friendly reception - it was not a problem to book a table for 8.30, making the reservation itself at 7.30. This is not to say that the restaurant was unpopular - it was full by 9pm.
To start we had the Whelks (on ice) with Aioili and the Escargots. Both very tasty, and the portion sizes were perfect - neither too large nor too small.
For our mains we had to go for one of their wide range of appealing Galettes - perfectly done, slightly crispy round the edges and 'tender', as it were, in the middle. The Magret de Canard was a little un-crispy, but the Sweet Potato mash was impeccable.
With the house white, and a cheese plate, the bill came to a very reasonable 60 pounds. Wonderful service, and made to feel at home from the outset. I would certainly go again!
